We love you Izaac Walton, you have made our Angling Compleat!

I
am the
Fisherman.
And those of the
flashing silver fin and
rainbow scale, who inhabit the
placid lakes, the rolling
rivers and the seven
seas, are My
Fish.

And
they shall,
without hesitation or
reservation, bite firmly upon
whichever bait shall be offered to them
and heartily resist their impending fate with all the
survival instincts and power for which their species is
known. And I, in return, shall honor their spirit by
releasing them back, unharmed,
into the waters from
whence they
came.

But,
a chosen
few shall be retained,
and they shall be either anointed
with the virgin oil of ancient olive trees,
sautéed in heavenly ambrosias, dusted and sprinkled
with exotic herbs and spices and prepared
as offerings on the kitchen
altars of the world's
most revered
chefs.

And
so it is
that all fishermen,
wherever they be, over wetland
or sea, shall raise their rods and creels in
praise to that fraternal order of the flashing silver fin
and rainbow scale, and be forever thankful and mindful of
the fact that though we greatly honor their cunning
and live for the tight line and noble fight, it has
been and always shall be their fate…
to ultimately grace the
tables at which
we shall
dine.
